Summer is finally here and many people will seize the opportunities presented by warm and long days to take the entire family, including the dog, out on the boat. The people will all wear lifejackets to combat the potential hazards of waves, falling overboard, and anything else that could befall a person on a boat. Logic would hold that safety precautions should be taken for dogs as well.

You may worry about your pet if you have to go out of town for a long period and cannot take him along. A better idea than a pet sitter in this case, is a pet grooming and boarding facility.
The pet grooming and boarding facility should be such as to take proper care of your pet in both physical and emotional terms, in your absence. So, you should look for a facility that has a complete package of all your pet’s needs.

Although you cannot dial 911, you should have your Avian Veterinarian’s phone number close at hand. When a bird is sick, he or she hides it well because in nature, the flock, out of fear of disease, might harm a bird that appears ill so as to protect the flock from all becoming sick.
Therefore, by the time you notice signs of illness in your parrot, the bird may have already been sick for some time. Be in touch with your bird’s personality and characteristics that are “normal”, so that you will recognize any signs of “abnormal” behavior.

Garter snakes belong to the genus thamnophis. These are most commonly seen snakes and they live in various habitat. These snakes will have colored stripes against the checkered or plain background. Some of the snakes will have yellow or red stripes on the body. But the snake can change the color according to the surrounding in the thicket. These snakes can only grow to the length of three feet but can live up to ten full years. Garter snakes depend on the eye for catching the prey than the sound, and smell. In these snakes the jacobson organ is located in the roof of the mouth. This organ is useful in analyzing the smell, but the utility is limited. These snakes can move much faster which makes it for them to catch the prey with ease.

If you own a pet bird you may already know the importance of having a bird cage cover. Putting a cage cover over your bird is a sign that it’s time for bed. It lets them know to be quiet for the night and it helps in keeping them on a set schedule. Another good thing about a bird cage cover is how it will also keep them from singing away at 4:30 in the morning. Birds tend to wake up a little earlier than I do.
There are some important points to keep in mind when using bird cage cover:

When do you know you have to take your pet to the veterinarian? If you answer yes to any of these questions, then the time is immediately. There might be other signs, but these are the basic ones experts insist you must pay attention to:
- Has your pet lost its appetite for more than two days?
- Has your pet vomited more than twice?
- Has your pet had diarrhea for more than two days?
- Does your pet vomit and have diarrhea?
- Is your pet behaving with unusual listlessness - brooding, hiding in the bushes, lacking enthusiasm for its favorite activities?

Many bird houses are available on the market today. In fact, no matter what design you think of, there probably is one already on sale right now. However, the best bird houses are still those that are made at home.
There are several materials you can use to construct your own homemade bird house. Some people use wood or metal, but the easiest to construct is made of gourd. Gourds are hard-skinned fleshy fruits that are related to cucumbers and squash, but they are not edible.

Your horse comes up lame, he limps, bobs his head, is obviously in pain, won’t run and all you can do is wonder just how serious will this be, will we ever ride again. Not your best case scenario.
Maybe the horse put its foot in a hole, maybe it just tripped, but many times lameness creeps in over time as a result of incorrect horseshoeing practices. Your horse’s foot is not balanced, the hoof wall is not level, the heels have been left too short, and too much toe on the foot stretches the tendons. Maybe the horse has pigeon toes that have been left untreated. All of the above over time can lead to lameness and permanent lameness.
